We took a ferry to the island of Zanzibar, off the coast of Tanzania. This place has been at the crossroads of trade for centuries, and one can still feel the intersection of Arabia and Africa.

The hub of Zanzibar is Stonetown, a hive of narrow, vibrant streets and alleys.
The photos do not do justice to the extraordinary colors, as Muslim women--in yellow, orange, blue, green, rose, black, and every combination thereof--are not keen to have their photos taken.
